uncontested divorce vs. contested divorce

why is it better to have an uncontested divorce, is possible?

An uncontested divorce is a divorce where the spouses have agreed to get divorced and have agreed on how they will divide their property and handle their assets and liabilities. They have also agreed on child support, time sharing, and terms of alimony (if any).

A contested divorce is a divorce where the parties have decided to fight each other on any number of issues. Essentially, they have decided to litigate rather than settle the case early on.  The vast majority of cases settle before seeing one day of trial and yet there are spouses who spend a large amount of money (that could have been used for the children) and emotional equity  just to have the case settle before trial.  We do our best to discourage such waste of resources.

An uncontested divorce may save you time and money and also help you salvage the civil relationship you have with your spouse. Litigating in a contested divorce can be costly, take many months and cause further bitterness. Speak to your friends and family who have been through a contested divorce and ask them how they would do it if they had the chance to do it again.
